Board-Certified Cardiologist Dr. John Layher Joins Morgan Medical Center, Bringing Advanced Heart Care to Morgan County and Surrounding Communities
Morgan Medical Center now offers advanced cardiology services. The service line will be led by board-certified cardiologist Dr. John Layher and his team, including physician assistant Jennifer Bowers and nurse practitioner Christina Ross, delivering expert cardiac diagnostics and treatment directly to local residents.

Dr. Layher earned his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine, completed his residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and completed his cardiology fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine.
His approach to care emphasizes early detection, prevention, and individualized, patient-centered treatment plans. The new cardiology service line provides a range of specialized care, including:
Cardiology Services: Preventive cardiology and heart disease risk reduction, coronary artery disease evaluation and management, heart failure diagnosis and treatment, valvular heart disease evaluation, cardiac arrhythmia evaluation and management.
Advanced Cardiac Imaging: Echocardiography, cardiac CT (coronary CTA), cardiac MRI, nuclear cardiology, vascular ultrasound.
Device Therapy: Pacemaker implantation, implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) implantation, cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices, in-office and remote pacemaker/ICD monitoring.
