Morgan Medical Center recently reappointed John Moore, Sherry Terrell, and Huey Atkins to serve on the Morgan County Hospital Authority, continuing their dedicated governance oversight and commitment to advancing high-quality, patient-centered care for the citizens of Morgan County.
Each of these volunteer reappointees will serve through June 30, 2029. The Morgan County Hospital Authority is the governing body of Morgan Medical Center. It operates under the direction of its nine board members, who are each appointed by the Morgan County Board of Commissioners.
Additionally, the Board unanimously approved the slate of officers for the fiscal year 2027 term: John Moore will continue as Chair, alongside Cindy Tingle as Vice-Chair, Sherry Terrell as Treasurer, and Butch Thompson as Secretary.

John Moore
John Moore serves as Chairman of the Morgan County Hospital Authority, a position he has held since 2017 after first being appointed in 2011. A longtime Madison resident, University of Georgia graduate, and former owner and president of Madison Car Care, John combines local small-business ownership with prior corporate communications leadership at The Coca-Cola Company to bring a thoughtful, community-focused perspective to his leadership of Morgan Medical Center.
Sherry Terrell
Sherry Terrell has served on the Morgan County Hospital Authority since 2011, contributing to key committees—including the Finance Committee—to help guide strategic decisions that impact patient care and organizational performance. A seasoned real estate professional with RE/MAX Around Atlanta Realty and Vice Chair of the City of Madison Planning & Zoning Commission, Sherry is also a dedicated civic leader who founded the Madison-Morgan Community Food Pantry, earning the Georgia Association of REALTORS® 2022 Good Neighbor Award for her community impact.
Huey Atkins
A member of the Authority since 2017, Huey Atkins brings nearly five decades of emergency medical services experience to his role, having served as an EMT, paramedic, EMS director, shift captain, commander, field training officer, and Vice President of Operations for National EMS. Throughout his career, Huey was actively involved in advancing EMS at local, regional, and state levels—earning the Northeast Georgia EMS Council’s EMS Special Achievement Award—and remains deeply committed to civic service in Morgan County, including two terms as president of the Morgan County Rotary Club.
